Casino Night Fundraiser

Raised close to $30,000 to provide to cancer patients in need

On October 23rd, 2010 Komak held its biennial fundraiser at the Governor Hotel in Portland, Oregon.  This was our third fundraiser since Komak’s inception in 2006.  The theme was “Club Casino”, and the ambience and mood was that of a genuine Las Vegas nightclub….glamorous, elegant and spirited.  The performer was John English, “The Voice”, who performed a Rat Pack tribute while patrons made donations through casino games, wine sales, raffled items and a beautiful scarf and jewelry boutique.  Patrons also enjoyed an exquisite assortment of fine foods provided by Jakes Crawfish.

Komak would like to give a heart felt thank you to Jim and Michelle Strauser, former Komak clients, who courageously got up on stage to share their heartwarming story with us all.

The MC for the evening was Komak’s Board of Directors Secretary, Souzie Monshi, who is also a successful event planner.  Her contributions of her time and talent were invaluable in making this event a success.   Special thanks also goes out to our board member Barbara Jenkins, who donated much of the proceeds from her boutique and who gave much of her time in coordinating this event and to our board member David Walker whose tireless efforts are too numerous to mention.
